Death threats against Amed Sherwan for freedom of expression in the context of religion

Amed Sherwan, activist, blogger and author of „Kafir – Allah sei Dank bin ich Atheist“ (Kafir – Thank Allah I’m an Atheist) was blocked from Facebook and Instagram.

“There will not be a magic day when we wake up and it’s now okay to express ourselves publicly. We make that day by doing things publicly until it’s simply the way things are.” – Tammy Baldwin

Amed Sherwan posted this photo montage of a kiss with activist Mohamed Hisham in front of the Kaaba in Mecca on Facebook and Instagram. This was reported en masse by fundamentalist Muslims from all over the world, whereupon both profiles were blocked.

The frightening thing, however, is the sheer volume of comments in which he is often directly threatened with murder, but this has not yet led to any consequences.
Threats of this kind must be taken very seriously, as Amed Sherwan himself had to experience: “Violence against ex-Muslim on the open street in Flensburg“.

We also reported on the activities of giant networks that serve to downright destroy activists in the digital space:
How Islamist networks silence critical voices on Facebookk“.
As a result, the profiles of Worood Zuhair and Karrar Al Asfoor were completely deleted because of statements critical of religion.

Amed Sherwan, Mohamed Hisham, Worood Zuhair and Karrar Al Asfoor are members of the Atheist Refugee Relief.
