Criminalization of freedom of religion or belief.

In 13 countries globally (Afghanistan, Iran, Yemen, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritania, Nigeria, Qatar, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan and the United Arab Emirates) the core elements of the human right to freedom of religion and belief are punishable by death on charges of apostasy or blasphemy. In addition, prison sentences can be imposed in more than 40 countries and in many countries important aspects of human rights, such as the right to self-determination, are violated.
